It is said that Boracay is one of the islands in the Philippines that will experience sea-level rise due to climate change that's why last December 2, 2009, Greenpeace together with the Department of Tourism held a workshop on the hotels and resorts of Boracay on energy efficiency and about "green" tourism. This project of Greenpeace which started last year, invited representatives from Bohol to pass on the initiative and thus the project is now called "GrEEn Destinations"- an awareness campaign utilizing resorts that undertake Energy Efficiency measures and public information dissemination to their communities, local governments and
stakeholders as contributions to the fight against climate change. Let's hope that this will be a success so that resort owners will pass on to the tourists about the immediate actions needed to fight climate change and the importance of protecting the beauty of Boracay and other tourism spot in the Philippines.
